What is Andarine?
Andarine is an investigational selective androgen receptor modulator. Its alternate names are S-4, GTx-007, Androxolutamide, and Acetamidoxolutamide. Andarine is the most common name, followed by S-4. It is named GTx-007 after the pharmaceutical company known as GTx, Inc. The American company makes andarine and tests its various uses but there are other developers around the world working on S-4 and its other variants. Andarine is sold as a drug and supplement. The constituents of the two are not the same but the effects may be similar in certain cases.
Andarine belongs to a category of compounds known as SARM. These selective androgen receptor modulators have the ability to bind onto specific hormones and hence can cause significant physiological changes. Since they are selective in nature, the binding onto the hormones is specific and hence the impact is targeted. It is not as if these drugs or supplements would latch onto any and every tissue, hormone or enzyme. Andarine has become popular in recent times owing to its effect on muscle wasting. Many people suffer from muscle atrophy, especially those who are growing old and those who are genetically predisposed to wasting away of muscles or healthy mass. In addition to regulating, curing and reversing muscle atrophy or muscle wasting, andarine has been found to be effective in strengthening bones. It is hence recommended as one of the treatments for osteoporosis. Andarine has also been widely tested for its effects against benign prostatic hypertrophy.
Andarine is an investigational drug. The chemical formula of andarine or S-4 is C19H18F3N3O6. The molar mass of the SARM is 441.357g/mol. The active compound in andarine is non-steroidal and anti-androgen bicalutamide. Supplements containing andarine or the pills must be taken orally. Andarine is not a steroid. It is not the same as the supplements that used to be taken by bodybuilders, sportspersons and athletes. S4 is often mistaken as a steroid because it can help people to gain healthy mass. Bodybuilders and especially weightlifters do take supplements containing andarine or S-4. Aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts may also be keen to try the supplement. The supplement is wrongly listed as one of the steroids that are banned for use by professional athletes and sportspersons. All major federations of sports and organizations in charge of global or regional sporting events have flagged it as per their anti-doping policies.
- Increases muscle mass
- Increases strength
- Burns fat
- Increases stamina
- Helps to fight osteoporosis
- No negative side effects
S4 has a specific medical purpose. It is to treat muscle atrophy. Since the health and strength of muscles have an influence on skeletal health, it is also recommended for people suffering from osteoporosis. Andarine can help soothe the pain of brittle bones. It can help heal fractures, rather quicker than they would normally. Andarine can also increase bone density and thereby strengthen the bones. Effectively andarine is good for the musculoskeletal health of a person. Many people suffer from muscle atrophy in their old age. Some have muscle atrophy since birth. There is a genetic aspect and various issues ranging from lifestyle, overall health and particular diseases that may facilitate or worsen muscle wasting. Andarine can be helpful for all such people. Andarine may also be opted for by anyone who needs a supplement to enhance strength, stamina or endurance and agility.
S-4 is a shortened version of S-40503. S4 or Andarine was created by Kaken Pharmaceuticals. The Japanese company was developing a drug for osteoporosis. The effects of andarine on muscle wasting were observed after development. There has been substantial transformation ever since those first stages. The S-40503 or andarine as we know now is different and evolved from the original S-4. The SARM has many health benefits but there are no side effects. This is one of the few reasons why it is a more popular SARM compared to others such as ligandrol or rad 140. It is not the most potent among all SARMs but it is still more popular since there are no serious or even minor side effects. Most other SARMs have some side effects and almost everyone takes some time to get acquainted with the drug. The body needs to adapt to the new drug or supplement. Andarine makes this adaptation process much simpler, safer, easier and swifter.
Andarine targets the specific r androgen receptors in muscles and also of bones and helps with rejuvenation. The pill or andarine as a supplement helps with the development of new tissues. It also helps with cellular regeneration. It can help people gain some pounds in a few weeks. The course is usually of eight weeks but one can always cut it short or extend it depending on the predetermined or reviewed objective. The mass gained will not be as substantial as is the case with some bodybuilding supplements or steroids for example. The purpose of andarine is not to help someone gain a lot of weight or muscles. The objective is definitely not to bulk up but to arrest the condition of muscle atrophy. There will be mass gain but steadily and slowly. Sustainability is the key. Gaining a lot of mass in a very short period of time is effectively futile if that is lost after stopping the drug or supplement. That is what happens with most steroids and bodybuilding supplements.
Andarine & Weight loss
It can assist you in your fitness routine. It can actually lead to weight loss but that is achieved by getting rid of weight. You do not lose healthy muscles or lean mass. Andarine has an androgenic effect on body fat. It does not have a much anabolic effect. This is also why classifying it as a steroid and flagging it by anti-doping agencies is wrong. Steroids are anabolic. It is a non-steroidal investigational SARM. Andarine binds to receptors of androgen. This happens in muscles, bones and also adipose tissues. In contrast with how S-4 helps with the regeneration of tissues in your muscles, it holds onto the adipose tissues in the body and leads to burning the fat and thereby facilitates weight loss. However, you should not expect to lose a lot of weight in a jiffy. Andarine is not a weight loss supplement. It can be of assistance if you exercise regularly and have a healthy diet. It will get rid of some of the most rigid fat in your body but slowly and only when you have other supporting actions in place. Andarine will not cause overnight changes, either to your muscles or bones, and definitely not to your fat.
Side Effects of Andarine (S4)
It is similar to mk 2866. The latter too is an investigational SARM. However, andarine has fewer side effects than ostarine and other SARMs. This is primarily owing to the difference in potencies. It is less potent than other SARMs. This also leads many people to go for higher doses. There are some side effects in higher doses so one must always gradually increase the dosage over a few weeks. A precautionary approach is always better than randomly leapfrogging to a potent dose when the side effects can be quite discomforting.
Whether you are taking andarine as pills or you have chosen S-4 supplementation, you should take it slow and steadily review your dosage over a period of two to eight weeks. You will observe changes to your body. Muscle wasting will slow down and then you would experience stagnancy. Only then you would observe a restoration of healthy lean mass in your muscles. Your bones will feel stronger. If you have any musculoskeletal pain, discomfort, limited range of motion or strange sensations owing to inflamed tissues, then you will experience substantial relief from such symptoms. Andarine helps with physiological recovery.
The only side effect you should be concerned with is the reaction with hormones. If you choose extremely high doses of andarine, then you may cause suppression of some hormones. Hormonal imbalance or changes in secretion are not desirable. You should not exceed 100mg of andarine anytime for a given day. The best approach is to choose a moderate dose and then to break it down to twice or thrice a day. It has a short half-life. Ideally, you should go for two or three small doses a day instead of taking the entire dosage at once.
Start taking the pills or begin supplementation slowly. Get your body acclimatized and then increase the dosage as you deem fit. Your objective and the present state will determine the exact dose. A generically safe starting point is 25mg a day. You may break it down to two or three times a day. You can increase it to 35mg but only after a fortnight or so. Your body must get familiar with andarine. Taking some time will also help you to know if there are any side effects. You can increase your dosage up to 50mg per day but broken down to two or three times after the first month. The maximum dosage you can go for is 70mg. While the body can take up to 100mg of andarine, it is best to avoid exceeding 70mg. Many people prefer the dosage to be limited to 50mg per day. Increasing the dosage further may adversely affect your ability to concentrate or focus.
